Maybe the RockBlade is for you!

Are you still tight? Are you still tired of foam rolling? Do you want to feel better? Maybe even move better in a short amount of time?

Maybe the RockBlade is for you!

What it is

The Functional Movement Technique (FMT) Certification is a program from RockTape that utilizes instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) or better known as the “Rock Blade ” for soft tissue/patient/athlete care.

What it does

The FMT does assessments to uncover faulty movement patterns and utilizes the RockBlade to restore functional capacity. The RockBlade can also be used to target specific areas or muscles to restore mobility.

In just a few minutes, the RockBlade can help the athlete better. An athlete can have a faulty squat pattern due to immobility for an example, but with a few techniques from the RockBlade can squat better within the same session.

How much will this hurt?

Although the soft tissue work may seem painful, “the tools may be hard-edged, but the techniques don’t need to be aggressive to deliver superior patient outcome.” – Rocktape.com. Which means the thought of pain should not deter an athlete from seeking treatment. The technique is close to a gentle scraping technique that wont bruise nor hurt the athlete.

From the Practitioner

Nik Guerra, a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) and Personal Trainer at Self Made Training Facility in Corona, Calif. and has used the Rock Blades as part of his program which has helped his athletes move and feel better. “People are stiff but using the Rock Blades at the beginning of a session for just a few minutes, my athletes hips are more mobilized and they get into more athletic positions.” Says Nik. Generally, athletes have stiff ankles, hips, and back (Thoracic spine). “I use techniques to get soft tissue work done on the calves, hips, and thoracic spine to help the joints that need mobile, more mobile.” Along with the Rock Blade, adding specific corrective exercise for his athletes, Nik has seen a huge increase in movement quality and performance.
