Shelby Blackburn

Hi! My name is Shelby, I am a NASM certified personal trainer, born and raised in Texas and married to a military man which is why I am now here in California.

I have always had a personality that strives for something bigger and better for myself and for those around me. I love to motivate, inspire and help other people realize their own strength, self worth and prove to themselves just how much they are capable of. I knew that I wanted to have a career where I could make a positive impact on those around me but didn’t know where I wanted to focus that energy until I found fitness about 5 years ago.

I was living such an unhealthy lifestyle of bar hopping, only eating fast food, picking energy drinks over water and constantly feeling like I was struggling to make it through the day without tons of caffeine and a nap. I felt weak and unhealthy and I realized I was doing my future self such an injustice by not taking care of my body. I didn’t want to be that person anymore, so I started researching and learning how to take charge of my health and my choices and It was the best decision I ever made.

I am so passionate about what training can do for people. For some of us it’s that one hour out of the day that is all ours where we get the chance to be a little selfish and escape the busy schedule of work, and errands or being Mom/Dad for a bit and do something for ourselves – we all deserve that. Feeling stronger, looking better in our clothes, have the energy to get through the entire day, having a new found love for our bodies and what it is capable of is a feeling that is unmatched and I want to be the person who helps you feel that.

My hope for training at Self Made is to get YOU to realize your own strength, power, and confidence. To get you feeling and looking your best inside and out and most of all to love what you see in the mirror. I can’t wait to meet you so we can work together to make that all happen. Training Specialty: I focus on resistance and strength training mostly geared towards women. However, my training style incorporates workout plans that touch on every body part while targeting several muscle groups for a well rounded, strong and toned physique – man or woman!
